Local Man Being Held After Traffic Stop
A traffic stop in Nashville has led to the recovery of some stolen property from Pike county. Police say 22 year Jake Ganous of Nashville was the driver of a vehicle traveling on Gaines Street. Officer Greg Parker recognized Ganous and knew he had a suspended drivers license. During the traffic stop, reports say officer Parker detected the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The police department’s K-9 unit, Apollo, conducted an open air sniff outside the vehicle and alerted police to the presence of illegal drugs coming from the vehicle. Police say a search of the car led to the discovery of more than 15 grams of suspected methamphetamine and nearly 15 grams of suspected marijuana, along with a set of digital scales, plastic bags & a pipe. Reports say the items were found under the vehicle’s hood near the radiator.
Inside the car, police say they also recovered a laptop, numerous old coins, and jewelry believed to have been stolen. As a result of the arrest, several articles of stolen property were recovered from a home in Nashville. Authorities say those items came from a residence in the Sweet Home area of Pike county. So far, Ganous is being held on charges of possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver & possession of drug paraphernalia. The theft in PIke county remains under investigation.
