Lockesburg man arrested in South Carolina
A Lockesburg resident has been arrested in South Carolina for attempting to crash through the exit gates of a nuclear power plant on Thursday, November 2.
66 year-old Doyle Wayne Whisenhunt was taken into custody on Friday, November 3 at an abandoned home in Pickens County, South Carolina and is being held in the Oconee County Jail.
Whisenhunt has been charged with one count each of attempted murder, malicious injury to personal property and unlawful entry into an enclosed place.
According to the affidavit, Whisenhunt accelerated his vehicle toward a Duke Energy security officer while on the grounds of the nuclear power plant in an attempt to cause harm or death.
Whisenhunt is also facing charges in Sevier County. He has been charged with possession of meth or cocaine with the purpose to deliver, 2 counts of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of drug paraphernalia to manufacture meth or cocaine and maintaining a drug premises.
An arrest warrant for Whisenhunt was issued by Sevier County Circuit Court Judge Bryan Chesshir on Tuesday, October 31.
