Man Arrested in Sevier County Homicide Investigation

A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a Sevier County resident following an investigation that began Wednesday morning.
According to Sevier County Sheriff Robert Gentry, deputies were dispatched to Robinson Loop at approximately 8:07 a.m. on August 26 after receiving a report of a possible deceased person. Deputies arrived and found a deceased male lying on the ground.
The scene was secured, and Sevier County investigators, along with Arkansas State Police special agents, began processing the scene. The deceased was identified as Gregorio Pantoja.
Investigators and deputies conducted interviews with neighbors and developed a timeline of events. Authorities said information gathered during the investigation, along with other evidence, led to a suspect being identified.
Roy Garza was brought in for questioning and arrested on a charge of first-degree murder, pending formal charging by the prosecuting attorney.
Pantoja’s body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy. Roy Garza was scheduled to appear in Sevier County Circuit Court for his first appearance on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
Sheriff Gentry said the investigation remains ongoing and thanked the Arkansas State Police, 9th West Judicial Drug Task Force and De Queen Police Department for their assistance.
