Man Arrested On Drug Charges Following Traffic Stop

A Newhope area man has been arrested on drug related charges.

59 year old Cesar Hernandez was arrested by sheriff’s deputies on a recent traffic stop.

Police reports state Deputy Eric Billings observed a vehicle, driven by Hernandez, crossing the center line of Highway 84 several times. During the traffic stop, Deputy Billings said he retrieved a handkerchief from Hernandez that contained a glass smoking device, along with a clear baggie with a white crystal like substance believed to be meth. A large amount of cash was also seized.

Hernandez was arrested and transported to the Howard County Jail. He is being charged with felony counts of possessing drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
