Man Charged with Terroristic Threatening After Disturbing Comment in Jail Video Call

A Pike County man has been arrested and charged with Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree after making a violent statement during a recorded video call with an inmate at the Pike County Detention Center, according to police records.

On June 2, 2025, Investigator Jason McDonald of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office was reviewing recorded inmate communications when he observed a video visitation between an inmate and her boyfriend, 45-year-old Matthew Montgomery.

According to the report, Montgomery appeared visibly upset during the conversation and stated he had been evicted from two additional locations by his parents. He also said he had packed all of their belongings into his truck.

Montgomery then made a threatening remark:
“I have all the gas to blow up the school so they will admit what they did and give us our lives back.”

The inmate immediately told him not to say things like that, according to the police report. Montgomery then stated he was heading to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office to speak with the sheriff.

At approximately 3:00 p.m. that same day, Montgomery arrived at the sheriff’s office and was taken into custody without incident.
