March Weather Summary
March broke an extended dry spell in the Nashville area. Nearly 6 and three quarters inches of rain fell last month. That was more than 1.6 inches above normal for the month. Prior to March, the area has experienced a lack of rainfall that goes back to the fall of 2021. Last month’s total still wasn’t enough to bring the year to date totals to where they should be. The normal rainfall amount received in the first three months of the year is about 13 and a quarter inches. This year, Nashville has measured just under 12 and 2 tenths inches of rain.
March had ten days with measurable rain. The largest 24 hour total was recorded at 2.88 inches on March 22nd. Last month also had one snowfall event. Rain transitioned to snow on the afternoon of March 11th, resulting in just under an inch of snowfall being measured.
Temperatures last month ranged from a low of 22 degrees with the snowfall March 12th to a high of 78 degrees on three separate days.
