Masks optional in South Pike County School District
Officials with the South Pike County School District say face masks will be optional at the various campus buildings, as of today. Superintendent Brad Sullivan says the district has been diligent in complying with directives issued by the Arkansas Department of Health through the COVID-19 pandemic. Sullivan says masks will now be optional, and not required, by students, staff, or campus visitors. All other health department directives continue to be in effect, until state officials lift those.
Even though masks are no longer required, Superintendent Sullivan said the district will continue practicing other safety measures, including the spraying and disinfecting all facilities every night, providing hand sanitizer throughout the district, encouraging hand washing, social distancing, and enhancing the amount of fresh air.
Sullivan said the district will not hesitate to reinstate the mask mandate on campus, if there’s an increase in the number of local or state positive COVID-19 test results.
