Mayor Larry Dunaway Highlights Ongoing Infrastructure Improvements Across Nashville

The Nashville City Council met Monday afternoon, with Mayor Larry Dunaway delivering the Public Works report and updating aldermen on several ongoing infrastructure projects across the city.

During a visit to Southwest Arkansas Radio on Tuesday morning, Dunaway expanded on those projects, beginning with work at the intersection of South Jones and Clark streets, which is currently closed while crews replace aging culverts. He added that once the Clark Street project is completed, the city plans to address another drainage issue on Gaines Street.

Dunaway also discussed improvements underway at the river, booster station, city lake, and wastewater treatment plant.

In addition, the mayor announced that another phase of the city’s sidewalk improvement project is scheduled to begin this summer. The project will extend the sidewalk along the west side of Main Street from Sypert Street to the Hope Highway and will include additional drainage work.

Council members also approved a resolution authorizing the city to apply for a grant through the Arkansas Rural Health Transformation Program to install turf on four fields at the city park. Dunaway noted the funding opportunity would require matching funds from the city.

At the conclusion of the meeting, aldermen voted to spend $750 on an advertisement promoting the City of Nashville in the Great Southwest Tourism magazine.
