Mineral City Council Holds Monthly Meeting; Key Updates and New Initiatives Discussed
On Monday, the Mineral City Council held their regular monthly meeting. Mayor Bobby Tullis was absent due to illness, but the session proceeded with several important updates and discussions.
Roddy Smith, Howard County Office of Emergency Management Coordinator, was a special guest at the meeting. Smith took the opportunity to explain how the CodeRed emergency notification system works.
He also highlighted the system’s usefulness during the busy holiday season.
Fire Chief Chris Hostetler urged all residents to sign up for CodeRed to stay informed about emergencies, closures, and other critical updates.
In other council business, the Aldermen approved several motions, including a resolution regarding a matching grant and the destruction of files dating back to 2014.
Police Chief Francisco Mercado introduced the newest member of the force, William Harberson. Mercado shared that Harberson, who began as a part-time officer, is now being promoted to full-time status. Harberson is set to attend the academy in January 2025. Additionally, Chief Mercado announced a drug take-back day scheduled for October 26th.
