Mineral Springs City Council Addresses Trash Concerns, Approves Credit Card Authorization

The Mineral Springs City Council met Monday for its regular monthly meeting, where aldermen approved a motion authorizing Mayor Vera Marks to obtain a city credit card. The motion passed unanimously.
During the meeting, Alderman Vanessa Hendrix read two letters from concerned citizens regarding trash pickup services.
Following the concerns raised in the letters, Mayor Marks said the council plans to revisit the issue at next month’s meeting. She said Public Waterworks Director Eric Marks is expected to present additional information on backup equipment requested by the council. Marks also noted there will be no compensation related to the matter.
Several community members also addressed the council during the public comments portion of the meeting.
Don Marks asked residents to be more considerate when taking their pets to the park by properly cleaning up and securely disposing of pet waste in sealed bags to help prevent spills while trash is being collected.
Janice Esters encouraged the city to increase advertising for community clean-up days in hopes of boosting resident participation.
Dana Greenlee told the council she is interested in serving on the Mineral Springs Parks Commission and asked about the application process.
Brandi Dickerson asked whether concession stands would be open during youth home games, noting that having food available at the park would be more convenient for families and visiting teams.
In closing, Mayor Marks reminded residents that public notices are posted at Town Hall, the Water Office, the Post Office, the Library, Diamond Bank, on the city’s Facebook page, through local radio, and through the Office of Emergency Management.
