Mineral Springs City Council Hears Community Feedback, Approves Grant Resolution

The Mineral Springs City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, with Mayor Pro Tem Vera Marks presiding in place of Mayor Bobby Tullis. All council members were present for the session.

Before the official meeting began, the council hosted a public hearing, giving residents an opportunity to voice their ideas and concerns. Citizens expressed a desire to see more community involvement, the addition of a grocery store and laundromat, and new efforts to beautify downtown Mineral Springs.

During the meeting, Marks presented a resolution to reapply for the Arkansas Community and Economic Development Program (ACEDP) Grant. After some discussion, the council voted to approve the resolution as presented.

Kathy Jones also informed the council that the 2024 water audit showed no findings, indicating the city passed its audit successfully.

Later in the meeting, the council heard a presentation from Reginald Mitchell of Bridging the Gap, who shared data from the Arkansas Prevention Needs Assessment (APNA) Survey, which focuses on youth behavior and community risk factors.

Mitchell outlined the five key areas the survey examined.

Before the meeting concluded, Jones also brought up a proposed $10 water bill credit for residents, but after discussion, the council voted to table the issue until next month’s meeting.
