Mineral Springs man arrested for fleeing
On April 22nd Howard County Deputy Jake Eudy attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling down highway 355 for speeding and careless and prohibited driving.
It was reported that Eudy met the vehicle going 91 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone but while trying to attempt the traffic stop Eudy lost the vehicle. Approximately 20 minutes later Eudy and Arkansas State Trooper Travis Hale located the vehicle at a residence on Cassidy Lane. Officers then reportedly located the driver of the vehicle inside the residence and identified him as 19-year-old Christian Smith of Mineral Springs.
According to the affidavit, Smith allegedly admitted to driving the vehicle and also admitted to having marijuana inside of the vehicle. Eudy then located the marijuana and a broken clear glass smoking device consistent with devices used to ingest methamphetamines inside of the console. Officers also reported that once they ran the license plates to the vehicle Smith was driving, the license plate returned to a white Pontiac but was displayed on a purple Chevrolet Camaro.
Smith was arrested and transported to the Howard County Jail. Smith was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, fleeing, careless and prohibited driving, and improper use of evidence of registration.
