Mineral Springs Man arrested for terroristic threatening
On April 7th, at approximately 3:40am Officer Alex Gamble of the Mineral Springs Police Department was dispatched to 614 South Lewis Street in reference to an individual that was at the residence threatening another individual with a firearm.
According to the affidavit, Officer Gamble made contact with the suspect 52 year old Gustavo Hernandez of Mineral Springs, who was getting back in his vehicle at the time. Gamble reported that Hernandez’s eyes were bloodshot and watery, and his speech was slurred and there was a strong odor of an intoxicant coming from the breath of the suspect.
Gamble then asked Hernandez to exit his vehicle, secured him in handcuffs, and detained him. As reported, Gamble made contact with the victim and his wife Fredrico and Judith Garcia. Both informed officers that Hernandez allegedly sent Fredrico messages threatening him to come out of the residence so that he could shoot him. It was also reported that Fredrico told officers that after Hernandez sent several messages threatening him, he heard a vehicle in front of his residence, and it was Hernandez. Fredrico then reportedly showed officers the messages that were in his phone that were sent from Hernandez.
While Deputies of the Howard County Sheriff’s Office were searching Hernandez’s vehicle, they located a black and silver handgun beside the driver’s side seat in the suspect’s vehicle and ran an information query on the firearm through NCIC and deputies found out that the gun was stolen. The firearm was then seized as evidence.
Hernandez was placed under arrest and transported to the Howard County Jail. Hernandez was charged with terroristic threatening in the 1st degree. The incident is still under investigation.
