Mineral Springs Police Chief Talks Drug Drop-off Box, Officer Training, and Curfew Reminders

KMTB and KNAS recently had the opportunity to speak with Mineral Springs Police Chief Francisco Mercado about the new Drug Drop-off Box at the Mineral Springs Police Department.

Mercado also mentioned an important event for those looking to dispose of drugs safely, Drug Take Back Day. This event allows residents to participate in a larger, coordinated effort to combat prescription drug abuse.

In addition to the Drug Drop-off Box, Chief Mercado highlighted the department’s ongoing efforts to bolster its force. He announced that Officer William Harberson, who was working part-time last year, is now attending the police academy and is on track to graduate this April.

To ensure the safety of residents, Chief Mercado took the opportunity to remind the public of curfew hours for local minors. He emphasized that curfew enforcement will continue both during the week and on weekends to maintain order and safety in the community.

The Drug Drop-off Box is located in the lobby of the Mineral Springs Police Department at 425 East Runnels Street. Chief Mercado advised that if the doors are locked, residents can call the department at 870-287-4500, and an officer will meet them if possible.

The Mineral Springs Police Department encourages all residents to take advantage of these community services as part of their ongoing commitment to public safety and well-being.
