Mineral Springs School Board Approves Handbooks, Bids Ahead of New School Year

The Mineral Springs School Board approved several items to prepare for the upcoming school year during its regular monthly meeting Tuesday.

Board members unanimously approved a student transfer request with a 6-0 vote.

K-12 Principal Stacey Gaddis also updated the board on several upcoming events, including a donation of cleaning supplies from Farm Bureau. She announced that the Mineral Springs Methodist Church will host the senior breakfast on August 14 at 9 a.m. in the school cafeteria, while graduation for the Class of 2027 is scheduled for Sunday, May 16, at 4 p.m.

The board also approved food bids for the 2026-27 school year from Ben E. Keith and Tankersley, along with the district’s milk bid from Hiland Dairy. Both measures passed unanimously.

In other business, board members approved Policy 1.11 regarding Board Member Training for the 2026-27 school year, as well as the remaining Arkansas School Boards Association policy updates. Both items received unanimous approval.

The board also approved the district’s Technology Handbook for the upcoming school year.

Superintendent JonDavid Amerson informed board members of updates to the Student Handbook, including revised early graduation procedures. Those changes were approved on a unanimous vote.

The board also approved the 2026-27 Athletic Handbook. Amerson said the handbook includes updates to awards and letter jacket requirements, along with a new $7 admission fee for all school sporting events. The measure also passed unanimously.

All action items on Tuesday’s agenda were approved by a 6-0 vote.
