Mineral Springs School Board Approves Improvement Plans, Annual Bids, and Policy Updates at July Meeting

The Mineral Springs School Board met in regular session on Tuesday, July 30, 2025, with Board President William Dixon calling the meeting to order. A quorum was established with all members present except Mike Erwin.
K-12 Principal Stacey Gaddis informed the board that junior high and senior high schedules are currently being finalized. She also announced that Open House will be held on August 14 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria, with representatives from ESS-Sub and Cornerstone in attendance. Media Day is scheduled for Wednesday, August 6 at 10 a.m. in the ALE building.
Superintendent JonDavid Amerson presented the High School Improvement Plan for 2025-2026, which includes goals to improve reading and math skills, boost student engagement, increase ACT participation, and strengthen Career and Technical Education (CTE) involvement. The plan was approved unanimously, 6-0.
The board also approved food supply bids from Ben E. Keith and Tankersley, as well as a milk bid from Raulerson Distributing LLC for the 2025-2026 school year.
Next, the Elementary School Improvement Plan for 2025-2026 was presented and approved. Goals include increasing reading proficiency, expanding blended learning, incorporating STEM for grades 5 and 6, and continuing data-driven RTI (Response to Intervention) support for math and literacy.
The board then approved the Technology Handbook for 2025-2026, which includes increased fees for damage to iPads and iPad lockers.
The meeting concluded with unanimous approval of annual policy changes for the upcoming school year. All motions throughout the meeting passed with a 6-0 vote.
