Mineral Springs School Board Approves New Band Director, Transfer Students

The Mineral Springs School Board met in a special session on Tuesday Aug. 4, approving the hiring of a new band director and a list of transfer students for the upcoming school year.

A quorum was established with board members William Dixon, Kay Slaton, Barnado Thomas, Ray Hawkins and Ricky Gamble in attendance. Board member Xavier Vaughn was absent.

The board unanimously approved the hiring of Jacob Capper as the district’s band director for the 2026-27 school year. The motion was made by Barnado Thomas and seconded by Kay Slaton, passing by a 5-0 vote.

The board also unanimously approved the district’s transfer student requests. The motion was made by Thomas, seconded by Slaton, and passed 5-0.
