Mineral Springs School Board Approves New Hire, Handbooks, and Facility Updates at July Meeting

Recently, the Mineral Springs School Board held their regular monthly meeting, with President William Dixon calling the meeting to order. A quorum was established, with all members present except Mike Erwin.
During the meeting, the board approved several key items. The board approved the hiring of Maci McJunkins as the new rootEd Advisor. Superintendent JonDavid Amerson noted that the previously selected candidate declined the position. The board unanimously approved the recommendation with a 6-0 vote.
The board also accepted the resignation of Brittany Kuykendall, which was approved unanimously.
In his superintendent report, Amerson updated the board on the recently completed parking lot pavement project, with the exception of drainage work to be finished later. He also reported that rubber flooring would soon be installed in the fieldhouse due to prior water damage.
Two major handbooks for the 2025-2026 school year were also approved. The Parent/Student Handbook includes updates to policies on cell phones, smartwatches, and earbuds, outlining consequences for multiple offenses. The Employee Procedures Handbook was updated with revisions to the maternity leave policy and a note that the time clock system will only be accessible on campus.
Additionally, the board approved a new administrator card system, which includes four cards under a $10,000 umbrella account with Farmer’s Bank. Each card will be assigned to administration, teachers, coaches, or staff, with an individual limit of $1,500.
All motions during the meeting passed with unanimous 6-0 votes.
