Mineral Springs School Board Approves New Hires, Salary Schedule at March Meeting

The Mineral Springs School Board covered several personnel and administrative items during their regular monthly meeting held Tuesday, March 31. All board members were present except Ray Hawkins.

One of the key items on the agenda was the approval of new hires for the 2026–2027 school year. Superintendent JonDavid Amerson recommended the hiring of Maci McJunkins for Career and Technical Education (CTE), Charles Brian Caldwell, MD, MS, FAAFP as Team Physician, and Tosha Mays for the cafeteria staff.

Board President William Dixon called for separate motions on each hire. Xavier Vaughn made the motions to approve all three candidates, with Ricky Gamble and S. Kay Slaton providing seconding votes. Each motion passed unanimously, 5-0.

The board also reviewed and approved the salary schedule for the 2026–2027 school year. Following Superintendent Amerson’s presentation, Ricky Gamble made the motion to adopt the salary schedule, and Xavier Vaughn seconded. The measure passed with a 5-0 vote.

In addition, the board approved the rehire of certified staff for the upcoming school year. The motion, made by Xavier Vaughn and seconded by Ricky Gamble, also passed unanimously.

The board also approved several staff resignations. Superintendent Amerson reported resignations from SPED teacher Cara Lamb, fourth-grade teacher Lizeth Chavelo, and second-grade teacher Ashley Walston. Barnado Thomas made the motion to accept the resignations, with Ricky Gamble seconding. The board approved the motion 5-0.
