Mineral Springs School Board Approves Rehires, Calendar, and Budget Items

The Mineral Springs School Board held their regular monthly meeting on February 24, 2026, addressing personnel, financial, and operational matters.

Superintendent JonDavid Amerson recommended the rehire of Principal Stacey Gaddis, Assistant Principal Walter Gene Strode, LEA Zachery Harris, and Federal employee Wendy Reed. The board unanimously approved the rehire list in a 6-0 vote.

District Treasurer Frankie Tollett presented the financial statement, reporting a legal fund balance of $2,124,609.09 without CDs and $2,197,690.60 with CDs. The all-fund balance stood at $2,858,504.45. The board approved the financial statement 6-0.

During public comment, Brenda Porter requested a copy of the signed lease agreement for the building in Saratoga and informed Superintendent JonDavid Amerson about the lack of running water in the gym.

The board approved the 2026-2027 school calendar, noting that graduation falls on Mother’s Day and will be amended later. Faculty and staff had voted in favor of version three of the calendar.

Superintendent Amerson also recommended purchasing a new maintenance vehicle, as the current vehicle requires an expensive engine replacement. The board approved a purchase of up to $20,000 for the new vehicle.

Finally, the board approved the Risk Management Liability Policy, accepting the ASBA insurance proposal of $7,557.56 per year.
