Mineral Springs School Board Hires Literacy Committee Consultants
The Mineral Springs School Board approved several housekeeping items at Monday’s monthly board meeting, held on the Mineral Springs school campus. The board approved an alternative methods of instruction plan and several statements of assurance for state and federal programs. Board members also approved a statement of assurance for standards of accreditation and will comply with a law that says all classified employees will participate in a background check every five years as part of ACT 1040. Interim Superintendent Curtis Turner presented the 2017-2018 audit, which only had one minor coding issue that the district’s auditor corrected.
Following a brief executive session, the board approved the hire of Inez Gentry as a part time custodian on the Saratoga school campus. Board members also approved the re-hiring of Dr. Karen DeJarnette as a data and literacy committee consultant. The board also approved the hires of Tim and Kim Erwin as consultants on a 5-2 vote. Superintendent Turner said the pair would also serve on the ACT 1082 Literacy Committee, which is comprised of teachers and other district administrators.
