Mineral Springs School Board Holds Regular Meeting
The Mineral Springs School Board convened in regular session Tuesday evening at the MS Administration Building, with President William Dixon calling the meeting to order. A quorum was established with board members present including Dixon, Xavier Vaughn, Ray Hawkins, and Mike Erwin, while Barnado Thomas, Dorothy Vaughn, and Ricky Gamble were absent.
District Treasurer Frankie Tollett presented the financial statement, reporting a legal fund balance of $767,817.86 (without CDs) and $839,257.56 (with CDs), along with an all-fund balance of $1,791,246.00. The board approved the financial statement unanimously, with a motion from Erwin and a second by Hawkins.
Superintendent Amerson then addressed the agenda, starting with the 2024/2025 Annual Equity Compliance, which certifies adherence to state and federal civil rights regulations. The board approved this compliance measure with a motion from Hawkins and a second from Erwin.
Next, the board discussed a Contract Disclosure Form regarding homecoming mums purchased from employee Ashley Thomas. This disclosure was also approved unanimously.
Superintendent Amerson proposed a $500 staff bonus to be distributed in November before the Thanksgiving break. The board agreed, with Hawkins making the motion and Vaughn seconding.
Principal Stacey Gaddis reported on state testing results, noting uncertainty regarding the outcomes. She will attend training with several employees to learn how to interpret the data, which will enable further staff training across the district.
Finally, the board set the dates for the upcoming November and December meetings for November 19 and December 17, respectively, to accommodate the holiday season.
