Mineral Springs School Test Results Slowly Improving
The Mineral Springs School Board reviewed several reports concerning test scores at Monday’s monthly meeting. The Every Student Succeeds Act School Index recently released accountability reports for public schools, based on data from the 2018-2019 school year. Mineral Springs elementary school improved from a letter “d” grade to a “c” ranking. Superintendent Curtis Turner said that was a large improvement from the “f” grade the elementary campus had a few years ago. Mineral Springs High School maintained a “d” letter grade. Several things are already in place to help raise scores and Turner said a focus has been placed on improving literacy.
Superintendent Turner said the district fell just short of climbing out of the “needs improvement” list and is headed in the right direction.
A special recognition will be held at Friday’s football game for the students that passed all sections of the ACT Aspire last year.
