MS City Council approves raises for 3 employees

During the regular meeting of the Mineral Springs City Council, city engineer, Kiron Browning provided an update on a sewer line project that resulted in a sink hole on Spring Street.

Browning explains what happened:

Mayor Steve Dixon stated city crews were not able to make the needed repair and asked the council to approve the hiring of a contractor to replace the concrete pipe with PVC. Dixon stated the cost of the project would be between $30,000 and $40,000. The council approved the motion and work is expected to begin this week.

Council members also approved pay raises for three employees. City water superintendent, Jonathan Dykes will receive $31,100 a year. Police detective, Eric Marks will receive $28,000 and the police department secretary will receive a raise to $11 an hour for a total of $21,120 a year.
