MS graduate joins basketball coaching staff at OBU
A Mineral Springs native has joined the coaching staff of the Ouachita Baptist University men’s basketball team. The hiring of Levin Thornton was announced late Friday afternoon by O.B.U. Head Coach Dennis Nutt. Most recently, Thornton served as assistant coach at Rogers State University in Claremore, Oklahoma for the past two years. Prior to that, Thornton was an assistant at the University of Texas-Permian Basin and the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith.
Thornton has been involved in all aspects of the game with recruiting, scouting, running practices, and player development. He has also managed creative content and social media for his previous two basketball teams, and will continue that role with Ouachita.
He is a 2016 Mineral Springs High School graduate.
