MS Hornets scrimmage Horatio Thursday night

Earlier this week, Mineral Springs head football coach Jason Hathcock and defensive coordinator Eric Thomas reported over 60 junior high and senior high football players participated in the fall workouts. Hathcock said that number is down to about 45, with 27 senior high players.

Thomas said the defense has speed and they are working on tackling. He said the players are buying in this season and there are some leaders emerging among the players.

Hathcock said he and his coaching staff are focusing on the word BAM, which stands for Be A Man.

Hathcock also said his team is ready to hit someone beside their teammates. The Hornets will travel to Horatio Thursday night to take on the Lions in a junior high and high school scrimmage.

The Hornets will open their season at home on August 26 against the Jessieville Lions.
