MSHS test scores are improving

Earlier this week, the Mineral Springs School Board met and considered purchasing a parcel of land of 2.41 acres adjacent to the district’s campus.

The owner of the land asked for $15,000 for the land, but board members voted to make a counteroffer. Superintendent Billy Lee stated he would present the district’s counteroffer to the owner for his consideration.

High school principal Jondavid Amerson provided the board members with an update on the district’s CTE and concurrent college offerings.

Amerson also listed all of the extra curricular activities that students at Mineral Springs High School can participate in. He also mentioned that currently 92 percent of the high school students were involved in some extra curricular program. Amerson also reported the high school’s athlete GPA was 3.02.

Amerson said 72 percent of the 7th through 12th grade students improved their test scores, last year.

The Mineral Springs junior high football has been canceled for this evening, and the kickoff for the Mineral Springs – Jessieville game has been pushed back to 8 pm Friday night.
