Mineral Springs School Board takes no action on Superintendent’s contract

Monday night during the Mineral Springs School Board meeting, the school board members did not take any action on Superintendent Billy Lee’s contract. President Dorothy Vaughn stated that she had spoken with members of the Arkansas School Board Association and was encouraged that before signing anything, the board should get a lawyer and have that lawyer write the superintendent’s contract. Vaughn provided copies of documentation from ASBA for the board members to look over.

The board also approved the proposed 2024-2025 calendar as presented by Superintendent Billy Lee. Lee made a recommendation to hire the High School and Elementary Principals, Federal Coordinator, and LEA Supervisor in their same positions with the exception of Principal JonDavid Amerson no longer being the Athletic Director.

Amanda Muse was hired as a 6th grade Literacy teacher, Katelyn Kirkham 5th and 6th Grade Literacy and Math Teacher, Amanda Harris for High School Dyslexia and Reading, and Zachery Harris for Special Education.

According to Business Manager Frankie Tollett they ended the month of January with a legal balance, not including their CDs in the amount of $2,032,659.68 and the legal balance including their CDs is $2,102,008.63. Their total balance was $4,380,599.06. There was a motion made by board members Ray Hawkins and seconded by Barnardo Thomas to approve the financial statement. All were in favor of the motion.
