Multi-Agency Operation Leads to Major Drug Bust in Texarkana Area
A multi-agency operation led by the 8th South Drug Task Force has resulted in the seizure of 15 pounds of methamphetamine and the arrest of a Hope man. The operation, which spanned over several days, targeted shipments of methamphetamine entering the community from California.
According to police records, that on February 28, 2025, the 8th South Drug Task Force, in collaboration with the 8th North Drug Task Force, 9th West Drug Task Force, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), began investigating a shipment of methamphetamine headed for Texarkana. After tracking the delivery, authorities executed a search warrant on March 5, 2025, at a residence in Hope, belonging to Prince Thomas. There, investigators seized 12 pounds of methamphetamine.
Also according to police records, that on March 11, 2025, the operation continued when the task force, along with the FBI, intercepted another meth shipment coming into the Texarkana area. This time, 3 pounds of methamphetamine and $2,310 in drug-related money were seized. Anthony Thomas, also from Hope, was arrested in connection with the drug delivery.
The efforts of the 8th South Drug Task Force, along with support from local and federal partners, have significantly impacted the community by preventing the distribution of illegal narcotics. Authorities remain committed to continuing their efforts to eliminate drugs from the region.
Chief Ed Chattaway, Sheriff Wayne Easley, Sheriff Jeff Black, and 8th South Prosecutor Connie Mitchell expressed their ongoing support for the task force’s work in keeping the community safe.
