Murfreesboro City Council increase rental fee for community room
The cost of renting the community room of the Murfreesboro municipal building is increasing. Following a discussion, aldermen voted to increase the fee from $40 to $50, due to increased costs associated with COVID-19. City officials say they will need additional chemicals to fog the room for disinfecting after each use. The fee had been at $40 for about 20 years.
Council member Jim O’Neal tendered a verbal letter of resignation at Monday’s meeting, expressing a desire for the council to appoint Cody Bachmann to the position at the December meeting, so that Bachmann could start learning the process as soon as possible He was elected to the position in last week’s general election.
Mayor Rodney Fagan also announced the city of Murfreesboro has received an award of excellence from the Arkansas Municipal League. The award was given for the city’s low payouts on workers comp and insurance claims.
