Murfreesboro City Council votes to buy sanitation truck

The Murfreesboro City Council has voted to purchase a new sanitation truck. City officials say three bids were received. Two of those were for 2022 model trucks, while the third bid was on a brand new 2019 Freight liner that remains under warranty. Council members voted to purchase the 2019 truck at a cost of $129,615 dollars. The price includes an $11,000 dollar allowance on the trade-in of an older city owned truck. The city will also be able to finance the purchase over a five year period.
In other business at Monday’s regular march meeting, Murfreesboro aldermen heard an engineering study report on the town’s drainage issues. The city has several options to help solve the problem and plan to apply for a grant to help with funding. It was also reported Monday that the city has failed to obtain a street paving grant. Arkansas towns who applied for the first time were given priority over cities who have previously received the funds, and enough of those first time applicants were involved, that it prevented Murfreesboro from receiving additional street funding.
