Nashville School District extends Superintendent’s contract

Monday night, Board Members of the Nashville School District approved a motion to extend the contract of Superintendent Doug Graham to run through the year 2026-2027.

The board also approved the year-round hybrid calendar that was recommended by Superintendent Graham. The board approved the hybrid calendar by a 3 to 2 vote. Nick Britt, Jerry Wilson, and David Hilliard were for. Tem Gunter and Jamar Finley were against the hybrid calendar.

About 100 residents of the community attended the meeting along with staff members of NSD. According to the hybrid schedule that is set for the 2024-2025 school year, students will begin school July 25th, 2024, and finish June 6th, 2025, with several breaks ranging from 1-day a month to 9-days a month. District officials hope the hybrid calendar will promote less student and teacher absenteeism and improve test scores.

Graham also made a recommendation to the board to accept the resignations of Junior High Custodian Delford Traylor, Teacher and Coach Paul Morrow, and Special Services Coordinator LaDonna Curtis who’s been working for NSD for about 25 years. There was motion made by Jerry Wilson and seconded by David Hilliard to accept those resignations as presented by Graham.
