Murfreesboro Schools Working On Graduation

With federal and state guidelines now in place through the end of April regarding social distancing and COVID-19, there remains much uncertainty with what is left of the 2019/200 school year for districts across the state. This week, students returned to the AMI instruction method of learning.

At Murfreesboro High School, Principal Davey Jones says staff members are beginning the process of reviewing transcripts and other data to determine if graduation requirements have been met for each member of this year’s senior class.

Recently, the Arkansas Department of Education said seniors who were in good standing at the end of the third nine weeks grading period would be considered to meet graduation requirements in the state. Principal Jones said the district is also beginning the process this week of determining class rank and the honor graduates process.

Students will be contacted by April 8th informing them of their status.

Regarding graduation and a commencement ceremony, Principal Jones said it’s too early to determine what will happen. At this point, the Murfreesboro district is planning to conduct graduation as scheduled. However, that could change, depending on updated social distancing guidelines from the state. Currently, all in school plans are halted through mid-April.
