Nashville City Council
Nashville City Council met beginning with a plaque presentation to Kay Smith for her 14 years of service to the city of Nashville.
Once business was underway Billy Ray announced that an interim Park Director was installed at the Park. Meghan Floyd will be filling this role and started last weekend. Floyd’s report today involved this last weekend’s kick-off of soccer and softball for the city’s youth. She said that moving forward events at the park will be assessed with a gate fee of $2 to help maintain lower registration fees for the events held by the park. This weekend saw success with this initiative.
Justin Thornton, Fire Chief, spoke next, bringing attention to council members for the need for a new Fire Truck. Thornton said most of the trucks the city currently uses are 25-30 years old with the newest truck having been purchased some 20 years ago.
Thornton is currently working through the figures but told the council that in looking at the newer model trucks available he believed they could sell 2-3 of their current inventory and purchase 1 that would allow them to do the same work. Thornton is looking at used options and plans to bring further details to the next meeting. No action was taken on this matter at this time.
