Nashville City Council approves increases in Water and Sewer rates

The Nashville City Council has voted to rezone a section of property near Highway 27 South & Sunnyside Drive from Highway Commercial to Industrial. The piece of property in question is approximately 54 acres & is situated to the north & northwest of Wal-Mart. The property has been sold to Entegrity Energy Partners, who plans to construct a solar farm. Mayor Billy Ray Jones said the operation would be about a twenty-million-dollar project.
Also at Monday’s council meeting, aldermen voted name Herbert Turley to fill a vacant council position from Ward Five, Position Two. Turley has a past employment history with the city, having served as the town’s police chief.

Water & sewer rates in Nashville are increasing as of January 1st. Public Works Director Larry Dunaway presented several ordinances for the increases to the city council yesterday. Dunaway says the increase will amount to ten percent & result in the minimum residential water bill increasing by a dollar ten cents:

Concerning sewer rates, the minimum rate will increase a dollar 43 cents per month:

The rate increases were approved by all 8 council members present at Monday’s meeting.
