Nashville City Council Approves Purchase of Police Cars
A special meeting of the Nashville City Council on Friday addressed the need for additional police cars. Police Chief Amy Marion told the city council last Monday that two patrol cars and a backup car are in the shop for repairs. One of the patrol cars will be out of commission for some time as a new motor is installed. Councilman Freddie Horne made the motion to purchase two additional cars at a cost of $78,000 and councilman Nick Davis seconded the motion, which passed with an unanimous vote. These “program” cars have low mileage, already have the necessary equipment, and have been used at trade shows and other events by the company that sells them. They will be acquired this week and put into patrol use.
