Nashville City Council approves several resolutions during monthly council meeting

Yesterday aldermen of the Nashville City Council approved several resolutions and an ordinance during their regular monthly meeting.
The first one was presented by Code Enforcement Officer David Riggs and it was in regard to declaring the existence of a nuisance upon certain property. According to the resolution the premise is located at 1323 S Front St in Nashville. Also according to the resolution this will allow the owner 30 days from the date of approval for repairs or removal to begin of this property or the City Council will proceed in accordance with the ordinance.

The second resolution was presented by Mayor Larry Dunaway, and it was referring to the utilization of federal-aid transportation alternatives program funds. These funds will go towards improving highway 371 sidewalks. Dunaway also presented an ordinance that was about an increase in the amount of expenditures allowable by the mayor or his duly authorized representative. This will allow the city to change the required competitive bidding from $20,000 to $35,000 dollars.

Howard County OEM Roddy Smith informed the council that the last resolution was about adopting the mitigation plan for Howard County. Smith said that he filed for a grant in the amount of $50,000 dollars and this will help the city receive funds just in case of periodic flooding and other natural hazards with the potential to cause damage to people’s properties within the area.
