Nashville City Council Approves Trauma Assistance Resolution, Funding Disbursements

The Nashville City Council held their regular monthly meeting Monday with all members present except Kathy Combs, addressing several key items including emergency services support and local funding allocations.

Among the approved measures was Resolution 2026-02, authorizing participation in the Arkansas Municipal League’s Trauma Assistance Program. The agreement, presented by Fire Chief Justin Thornton, is designed to provide support resources for first responders and will benefit both the Nashville Fire Department and Police Department.

The council also approved disbursements of 10 percent allocations for the months of March and April to two entities — Howard Memorial Hospital and Howard County Economic Development. Each entity will receive $13,925.47, representing a portion of the total $132,954 in allocated funds.

Howard Memorial Hospital CEO Stacy Harberson addressed the council to explain how the funds are being utilized.

In other business, the council entered executive session to discuss personnel matters related to the public works director position. Following discussion, members voted to table a hiring decision and instead reopen the application process by reposting the job.

The council is expected to revisit the matter at a future meeting.
