Nashville City Council fails to pass Pro-Life Resolution

The Nashville City Council considered a resolution at their February meeting Monday to designate Nashville as a Pro-Life city.  Council members were told the resolution was non-binding and can’t be enforced, but was designed to allow the city to affirm the dignity of human life.  It would also possibly prevent organizations such as planned parenthood from establishing a clinic locally.

A motion to adopt the resolution was made by Nick Davis and seconded by Joe Hoen.  Six council members voted in favor of the motion, with four others voting against, which caused the motion to fail.  Two council members were absent.   Because the Nashville City Council is comprised of 12 members, it takes 7 people to be a majority.
