The Council also approved several key measures, including an ordinance updating the city’s personnel policy. Additionally, two resolutions were passed to place liens on properties located at 601 W Hempstead Street for $150 and 1216 W Oak Street for $500.
Police Chief Amy Marion presented a quote from the National K9 Training Center for $21,546.24, citing the need to replace the department’s aging K-9, Apollo, who can no longer serve due to health reasons. After a detailed discussion, a motion to approve the purchase of a new K-9 was made by Alderman Donna Harwell and seconded by Alderman Herbert Turley. The Council agreed to proceed with the proposal.
