Nashville City Council Holds Regular Monthly Meeting

The Nashville City Council convened for their regular monthly meeting on Monday, where they received updates on the city’s finances, public safety, and other ongoing projects.

Finance Director Kimberly Green presented the financial report for the month of February. Total revenue for the month amounted to $961,002.38, while expenditures were slightly higher at $1,000,546.10, resulting in an excess expenditure of $39,543.72. Green noted that while city sales tax saw a positive increase of 5.75 percent, amounting to $8,869 more than February 2024, county sales tax experienced a slight decline of 0.4 percent, which was $376 less than the previous year. After a brief discussion, aldermen voted to approve the financial statement as presented by Green.

Police Chief Amy Marion also provided updates on several key initiatives. Marion reported progress on the 90/10 grant, which has been instrumental in securing additional funding for the department.

Marion also shared exciting news regarding staffing. She informed the council that two new officers have been hired, meaning the Nashville Police Department is now fully staffed and ready to serve the community.

The meeting concluded with the council continuing their discussions on various community matters, with plans to address additional topics in next month’s meeting.
