Nashville City Council increases mayor-elect’s salary for performing public works director duties

On Monday Nashville City Council Member Donna Harwell made a motion to temporarily increase the mayor elect Larry Dunaway’s salary by $20,000 annually from whatever the gross starting salary is until a new public works director is hired. The motion was seconded by council member Kay Gathright. All were in favor of the $20,000 annual raise. This will go into effect January 1st of 2023.

Public Works Director Larry Dunaway discussed the bid on the West Side Pressure Improvement Project.

Council member Donna Harwell made a motion to accept the bid from ICOR Construction and seconded by Joe Hoen. All were in favor of the bid for the West Side Project.

Dunaway said a bid opening for the Mount Pleasant bridge project will be the 15th of December. He also discussed the process of the sewer project along with the Water Provider Training.

Dunaway said the law requires for exams to be taken by the end of  2022 but since some wouldn’t be able to comply with the deadline he’s having someone to come in and do a class in March of 2023 so trainees can have an extension.
