Nashville City Council Resumes Meetings

The Nashville city council skipped its March meeting due to the COVID-19 health emergency but they returned Monday to conduct their regular April meeting.

In keeping with the trend of social distancing, the meeting location was moved from city hall to the Carter Day Center.

Mayor Billy Ray Jones said he is currently planning to have all city operations restored to their normal functioning capacity on Monday assuming there’s not an upswing in the number of Covid-19 cases between now and then. The mayor said it has been more than two weeks since Nashville reported a case of the virus.

As city offices gave their monthly reports, it was noted the parks department has suffered the most as far as keeping in line with their budget. Parks director Mark Dale said all sporting events are canceled for at least the next month or two.
