Nashville City Council working on 2021 budget

The Nashville City Council has adopted an ordinance that waived the state of Arkansas’ normal bidding process in order to receive state funds to repair the Lake Nichols spillway that was damaged during the July 2019 flood event. Work on the project was completed earlier this year, but during the process it was determined Nashville never adopted the ordinance during the process. That action came Monday evening to satisfy the state’s requirements.
Following adjournment of the council meeting, aldermen transitioned into a budget committee meeting for 2021. Mayor Billy Ray Jones said most budgets were tailored to be the same as this year. The city is expecting an increase in health insurance rates, for at least the first half of next year. Mayor Jones said the insurance provider has indicated they will.
