Nashville City Hall may get new roof

The city of Nashville is looking at roofing solutions for the city hall. Public Works Director Larry Dunaway says the roof is nearing its end of life and is beginning to leak:

Officials are hoping to obtain a 50/50 matching grant in order to complete the project.

Covid-19 is affecting at least two departments within the city of Nashville. Mayor Billy Ray Jones says most of the city park staff are off work currently due to having the corona virus. Police Chief Amy Marion also said two police officers are in quarantine right now due to close contact with people who have tested positive.
The increasing number of Covid cases in the area is also causing city officials to consider options for adopting next year’s budget. During Monday’s city council meeting, Mayor Billy Ray Jones said budget workshops have been scheduled for November 2nd and 16th….but due to health safety concerns, next weeks’ session has been cancelled. The mayor indicated the council might still hold the November 16th workshop and try to go over all budgets in that one meeting. Due to this year’s pandemic, most departments are running well under their projected budget for 2020…and budget figures close to this year’s are anticipated for next year. Mayor Jones also told council members he plans to recommend a 3 percent pay raise for all city employees next year since a handful of city workers have left this year for higher paying jobs.
