Nashville Considering Dumpster Bin For Large Items

The city of Nashville is looking at ways to make it easier for local residents to keep their property clean.  At Monday’s city council meeting, Mayor Billy Ray Jones said officials are considering the placement of a dumpster bin at the city shop area.  This would allow citizens to have a place to bring items such as old appliances or furniture while allowing city officials to make sure the items are placed in a controlled environment.

In recent years, the city has held a special spring clean up with dumpsters being placed at various locations throughout town.  Should the city decide to go forward with the plan, the dumpster would eliminate the annual clean up.

Public Works Director Larry Dunaway said he isn’t opposed to the plan but does have some concerns.  Among those is how to make sure the service is for city residents only.

Mayor Jones said if the city decides to follow through on the plan, details will be announced by local media.
