Nashville High School Dealing With Graduation
Nashville High School officials announced yesterday, that based on state guidelines, any 2020 senior who was in good standing through the third nine weeks grading period, will be considered a graduate of the school.
Principal Tate Gordon said any student who is taking concurrent classes through UA Cossatot must continue completing those courses.
Gordon says high school personnel are reaching out to those seniors who are considered not to be in good standing.
He also noted that having a graduation ceremony for the 2020 senior class is a high priority of the district and graduation is still currently planned for the middle of next month. Should the state’s social distancing directive continue by graduation time, the principal said graduation would be planned for a later date into the summer months.
The Arkansas Department of Education has also waived the testing requirements for the Advanced Placement exams. Students still have the option of taking the exam for any A.P. course they are enrolled in. Students in these courses will receive the extra quality points added to their G.P.A., even if they don’t take the exams. Students who are in the concurrent A.P. Calculus and Biology will have to take the exams and score a three or higher in order to receive the concurrent credit. These exams will be offered on a couple different dates. Gordon said more information will be available later as to the exact times.
