Nashville Man Arrested After Reported Shooting Incident

A 57-year-old Nashville man was arrested Sunday night following a reported shooting at a South Pope Street apartment complex.
According to the affidavit, Officers responded around 8:09 p.m. on January 11, 2026, after a caller reported being shot at by a neighbor. The complainant told police he had gone to retrieve his debit card when the suspect, identified as Preston Roberson, allegedly became angry and pulled a handgun. The complainant said he fled after at least one shot was fired and reported Roberson threatened to shoot him as he ran.
During an interview, Roberson denied firing at the complainant but acknowledged having access to a firearm. A records check revealed Roberson has a prior felony conviction for murder in 1991, prohibiting him from possessing a firearm.
With consent from a resident of the apartment, officers located a loaded black and gray Taurus 9mm pistol in the bedroom and seized it as evidence.
Roberson was transported to the Howard County Jail and charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of Firearms by Certain Persons.
