Nashville man arrested for drug possession
On June 14, 2024, Nashville Police Officer David Shelby was informed that a Howard County employee might be under the influence of drugs while heading to work. Officer Shelby proceeded to the Howard County Shop where he observed the employee, 38-year-old Juan Carrillo, arriving in a silver van.
The affidavit notes that Shelby saw Carrillo walking unsteadily towards the shop, dropping water bottles. Shelby inquired if Carrillo was intoxicated, to which Carrillo admitted he was coming down from methamphetamines and oxycodone. With Carrillo’s consent for a search, Shelby discovered an open cigarette pack holding a small yellow baggie, which Carrillo acknowledged contained a crushed oxycodone pill.
Shelby identified the baggie’s contents as a crystal-like substance resembling methamphetamine. Carrillo was arrested, taken to Howard County Jail, and charged with possession of a controlled substance.
