Nashville man arrested for possession of drugs

On July 10th, Nashville Patrol Officer Jarrett Rogers received a call from the on-duty dispatcher about a man assaulting a woman at 202 South 4th Street.
According to the affidavit, after calling for backup, Rogers arrived at the scene to hear screams coming from the residence. He then identified the suspect as 37-year-old Jeremie Barton who was standing in a hallway inside the residence. Upon entering through the back door, Rogers found the victim sitting on the floor inside.

Officers reported that Barton was visibly distressed, crying and shouting that he had entered the house illegally and that the victim did not want the police involved. Barton had to be physically restrained and handcuffed by officers. During the arrest, an object in Barton’s hand, described as a piece of aluminum foil containing a crystal-like substance, was seized. The substance was suspected to be methamphetamine.

Barton was taken to the Howard County Jail and charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
